Publishing In A Bookstore?
We all have a soft spot for bookstores. Who among us can’t get lost for an hour or four browsing the selection and finding new authors or rediscovering old ones?
But reality is, bookstores are at a decided disadvantage with online retailers like Amazon. Why? Space.
A store can only stock so many books. And what are the odds they will have the exact book you’re looking for?
From my own experience, I’d say that half the time I go to a bookstore, they don’t have what I’m looking for.
But technology could change that, giving bookstores the advantage they’d lost, via on-demand printing of books.
NPR recently spotlighted the bookstore McNally Jackson in New York, which is now offering print on demand services. Not only do they offer several book titles to choose from, but you can also publish your own book at the store.
